Social Media Roast Guru As He Narrates How He Once Donated $200k To A Politician For Campaign

Popular Ghanaian rapper Guru has expressed desire to transition out of the entertainment industry and into politics.

Guru stated in an interview that GhanaCelebrities.com watched that he wants to better serve the people of his country and that he believes that being an entertainer is insufficient to do so, which is why he plans to run for office.

“I have realized being an entertainer isn’t enough. I’m in a position to serve my people to make Ghana a better place,” he said.

The former hitmaker has enrolled in the University of Ghana as a political science student to ensure he is knowledgeable in the profession he has chosen and to demonstrate that he is not simply lying.

In the interview, Guru also described how he gave a politician $200,000 to contribute to the community, but it was used for electoral purposes instead.

“In the past, I have donated 200,000 dollars to one politician to give back to society. I expect those in politics and government to do more of these but if it’s not happening, I’m getting the qualification as a politician to do it better for our people.”

The "Samba" hitmaker also expressed his thoughts on how, if he had been in a position of authority, he would have dealt with the Galamsey threat.

“For example, the issue of galamsey that’s affecting our rivers and other water bodies isn’t the work of the government alone to stop it; as citizens, we must know we destroy nature when we venture into it and refuse to do the right thing,” he noted.

Guru's interest in politics, however, has not been well received by all social media users. They argue that there have been too many artists who have entered politics.

Others counseled Guru to quit funneling enormous sums of cash into political campaigns and instead utilize it to make investments and resurrect his faltering music career.
