Zlatan Ibrahimović has questioned the criteria adopted in choosing football greats in the modern game expressing that social media has changed the narrative and what goes on before someone is crowned.

The 39-year old Swedish footballer still admires the ‘old school’ ways and has voiced that the long term effective efforts employed defined the status of world best players through their hard work.

"Today young players play five minutes and are seen as great," Ibrahimović said. "I'm glad to be from the old school.

"Social networks have changed everything, and players are seen as champions now despite having done little.

"Before you had to achieve great things, for a long time, to be a great player. I like the old school more."

The rating of who is the best footballer of all time was not decided between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo by the AC Milan forward.

According to him on Discovery Channel when asked about who he thinks the game's greatest player is, the Swede was quick to reveal his secret saying "Ronaldo, El Fenomeno, He's the best of all time.”

"For me, that Ronaldo is football, the way he moved. He's the greatest player in history, without a doubt."
