SMCA Workers To  Hit The Streets On December 6 Over Non-payment Of Their Three Years Salary Arrears By Government

In demand for their three years’ outstanding salary arrears, hundreds of employees of Single Man Contractor Association (SMCA) have secured a warrant from the Greater Accra Regional Police Command in order to embark on a peaceful demonstration in Accra on December , 2022.

The association, as part of the measures, will journey through the principal streets of Accra and finally petition the Roads and Highways Minister, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta, as well as other stakeholders.

In an up-close account with the National Organiser, Mr John Atta Asem, he declared furiously that they can no longer endure the sorrows, perhaps calling on the government to sit up and pay them before things get out of hands.

He spelled out, “We are going to march through the principal routes of Accra on the 6th December, 2022 to demand for prompt payment of our thirty-six months’ unpaid salary arrears. I don’t think the Ministers can survive till now if it has not paid them his salaries”.

However, the aggrieved workers have vowed to do all what it takes to get their monies paid.

“We can’t suffer again after working for the country. We were owed to clean culverts in the cities and also weed along the highways. After working for over three years, we have not been paid. How do they expect us to survive? We are demanding the Roads and Highways Minister, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta, the Finance Ministry and the relevant stakeholders to pay us as soon as possible,” they claimed.
