Six passengers have died in a fatal road accident at Mpaha junction in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region along the Tamale-Kumasi Highway.

Five other person's sustained various degree of injuries.

The Savannah Regional fire Service Commander, Kwasi Baffour-Awuah said the cause of the accident is inconclusive, hence investigations are underway.

According to him, they went into the rescue of the victims after a distress call by a good samaritan.

He noted that a Sprinter bus travelling from Kumasi to Tamale and a Rhino truck with registration number GN5316-13 from Tamale-Buipe collided.

He said the remains of deceased have been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy, whilst the five injured are in critical condition receiving treatment at the Holistic Medicare health facility in Buipe.

The commander further bemoaned unavailability of rescue equipments in the area which occasionally makes work elusive, and he, therefore, appealed to the government for support.
