Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey has hinted that should every Ghanaian resolve to clean the mess in the country, it would be the cleanest in Africa.
Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey has hinted that should every Ghanaian resolve to clean the mess in the country, it would be the cleanest in Africa.
This, according to him, would have enabled the president's dream of transforming the country into the cleanest in Africa. The Greater Accra Regional Minister made the observation earlier today in Tema at the 66th Independence Anniversary celebration. Themed, "Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose saw a parade of School children,Security agencies and identifiable groups being represented at Independence Day Anniversary at the Tema Sports Stadium. Dignitaries who graced the occasion include the Greater Accra Regional Minister,Hon. Henry Quartey, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey, Greater Accra Regional Police Commander,COP/Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba, Tema Regional Police Commander, Daniel Kwame Afriyie, Flag Officer for the Eastern Naval Command and 1st Garrison Commander, Commodore Maxwell Arhen, Accra Metro Director of Education and Acting Regional Director of Education for the Greater Accra Region, Stephen Abamfo, Chiefs and Traditional leaders within the Greater Acccra Region, Religious and Islamic leaders amongst others. In all a total of 29 schools comprising of School children from the Basic, Junior High School and Senior High Schools, Security personnel market folks amongst others skillfully marched to the admiration of the gathering. Deserving schools were rewarded for skills,resilience and uniqueness at marching. Ada Senior High School came third with 145 points, Odogono Senior High School came second with 149 points and Accra Girls Senior High School came first and parted with GHS3,000.00,GHS 4,000.00 and GHS5,000.00 respectively for the senior high school level. For the basic school level, Ga North Basic, Weija Presby School and Oninko Drive Junior High School came first. Aside the prize money, winners also received products from sponsors. Delivering a speech at the gathering, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey indicated that the dream to making the Greater Accra is ongoing. In view that, he charged the various assemblies to enforce the laws to the latter in order to achieve the desired result. He said with a common purpose, the president's dream could be achieved. Prior to the parade, he noted that there was a clean up exercise which received massive patronage from the residents which he commended. The clean-up exercise, he noted has given the needed practicality to the president's call therefore urging the assemblies to step up the enforcement in making the country clean.
