Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, together with the three abettors have been remanded for one week into police custody.

From the news release by the Ghana Police Service, Shatta Wale, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Idris Yusif and Eric Venator have been remanded by the Accra Circuit Court on their first appearance in court on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

’’A court in Accra has today Thursday, 21st October 2021, remanded Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly referred to as Shatta Wale and three others into prison custody for a week'', a message from the Ghana Police. 

They were remanded following a request by the police for their continued detention due to ongoing investigations on their alleged involvement in the publication of false information with the intention to cause fear and panic’’ the press wrote.

Shatta Wale was arrested on Tuesday over his participation in releasing false news that he had been shot in East Legon leading the police to announce that they were in search of him.

 He also posted on his Facebook page to plead with all his fans, family and friends who were affected by his prank.

Prior, he made reference to the prophecy which was made by Bishop Stephen Kwesi Appiah of New Life Kingdom Chapel that he would be shot dead on October 18, 2021.

 The Bishop was also made to appear before the court on 21st October of his prophecy and also charged for creating Panic and fear.

 According to the press release, Shatta Wale was pleaded not guilty to the charges of releasing false news and causing fear.

 His abettors, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Idris Yusif and Eric Venator were charged for abetment of crime.

They were also not pleaded guilty to the charge.

The four persons are to reappear before the court on October 26, 2021
