Sevilla kicked off the remainder of the LaLiga Santander season with a 2-0 win over Real Betis at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

In a historic Gran Derbi played in front of an empty stadium in Seville, the hosts put on a show of full of attacking intent in front of the watching world.

Lucas Ocampos was involved in everything that was good for Sevilla and he almost found an early opener, seeing his cross-cum-shot smack the crossbar and bounce to safety.

Julen Lopetegui's side created a number of chances before the break and perhaps should've gone ahead when Jules Kounde squandered a header from close range.

Luuk de Jong also had the opportunity to open the scoring, but his headed effort also dropped the wrong side of Joel Robles' left-hand post.

After half time, Sevilla were handed the chance to break the deadlock from the penalty spot when Marc Bartra was adjudged to have fouled De Jong in the area.

Ocampos stepped up to take the spot-kick and sent Robles the wrong way to score the first goal since LaLiga Santander's return.

The Argentine played a key part in the hosts' second too as his exquisite backheel flick found Fernando, who directed the ball into the back of the net from in front of goal.

Despite the arrivals of substitutes Joaquin and Loren Moron, Betis were unable to find a route back into the game in the final half an hour.

The victory strengthens Sevilla's grasp on a Champions League place as they move four points clear of fifth-place Getafe in third.

Betis, meanwhile, remain in 12th and are still nine points behind seventh-place Valencia, who hold the final Europa League spot.
