Several people have gone missing in Nigeria following extremist strikes.

More than 30 persons are missing in Borno, Nigeria's north-eastern state, after being attacked by suspected militants over the weekend.

Witnesses say gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on the victims from Run as they went into the bush to get firewood.

Several people were shot and survived.

Hundreds of others are said to have been kidnapped or killed.

The perpetrators of the attack are unknown, but Boko Haram and another militant group affiliated with the Islamic State have been fighting in the area.

The raid has elicited no response from Nigerian security forces.
