It has been reported that some Members of Parliament, especially from the minority, have raised concerns about the Saglemi Housing Projects, calling on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to halt their decision to give it to private entities to manage it.
This has called for several concerns from individual stakeholders, including the Founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party, Madam Akua.
The farmer cum politician has noted that the government must consider selling out the houses to Teachers, Nurses, military officers, police officers, Staff of State Transport Corporation limited, Custom and excise officers and many other government institutions.
According to Madam Akua Donkor, the above listed group of people are needy and must be considered owning the Saglemi Houses.
“I think the Saglemi Houses must not be given to any politician, a minister or a Member of Parliament. We have teachers, journalists and others who have not been able to acquire themselves pieces of lands and buildings. I suggest we should it give to them for credit for ten years. The cost of a house must be 5billion cedis,” she told.
She asserted that the government must be careful not to allow any politician or private entities to occupying the housing projects or she will be waffled to fight back.
“Both NPP and NDC MPs and government appointees have already built themselves big mansions. I will plead with H. E Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo to avoid given the project to any legislator or government appointee’’.
