Management of the Savelugu Government Hospital in the Northern Region has resolved to partly close down the facility, due to the upsurge of covid-19 cases in the Municipality.

The communique sighted by Soiree News.com is informing residents living in the Savelugu Municipality and its adjoining Communities about the partial closure of the health facility today Monday, 22nd February 2021.

The hospital, according to the note will be in full operation after two weeks.

"This is to inform the general public especially those living in and around Savelugu that, Savelugu Hospital will from Monday 22nd February 2021 be closed down partially for 2weeks due to the upsurge of Covid-19 within the Municipality".

It further revealed that the decision is aimed to reduce staff client's interaction and pave way for disinfection of the hospital.

About 63 staff of the Savelugu Hospital have tested positive for Covid-19, whilst a number of samples wait for testing at the laboratory.

The hospital is expected to conduct second mass testing of staff the hospital this week.

Meanwhile, the Savelugu Government Hospital being the major health facility between Tamale- North East Region, its partial closure will hugely have an effect on residents living Within that enclave.

This is to inform the general public especially those living in and around Savelugu that, Savelugu Hospital will from Monday 22nd February 2021 be closed down partially for 2weeks due to the upsurge of Covid-19 within the Municipality. The Hospital shall render ONLY EMERGENCY services.

This decision is necessary to reduce staff - client’s interaction and pave way for disinfection of the entire Hospital to break the chain of transmission.

The general public is however entreated to remain calm and co-operate with the Staff and Management of the Hospital as we strive to provide you with quality health care services and ensure your safety.
