The Sampa Government Hospital has introduced a policy called Sickle Cell policy which is scheduled for the last Thursday of every month.

According to Madam Sarpong Madeleine who is in charge of the Out-Patients Department (OPD) at the Sampa Government Hospital, the policy seeks to offer treatment to babies affected with sickle cell disease.

She explained this initiative which will be observed monthly will increase public knowledge and understanding of sickle cell disease, and the challenges experienced by patients, their families and caregivers.

She advised parents to take advantage of the initiative and make their children affected by the disease available for treatment.

She however urged patients to exercise patience with nurses and doctors whenever they visit the hospital to ensure that better treatment is meted out to them.
