"Educate your People in your local dialect" - Salma Mumin and Edem
Celebrities charging each other to educate their locals on the threat the Coronavirus possesses.
Popular Ghanaian actress Salma Mumin has urged her fellow celebrities and educated Ghanaians at large to use their local dialects to effectively communicate to illiterates the threat the Coronavirus possesses and how its spread can be curbed in Ghana.
A lot of celebrities in Ghana have come together to fight the deadly pandemic, as they have been doing all in their powers to help curb the spread of the disease; sharing hand sanitizers for free and educating their fans about the Coronavirus. Salma Mumin is now urging her fellow celebrities to stop using English language to communicate and use their local languages instead.
She said the use of foreign languages leads to information among the illiterates on her Instagram post. She said: "if u are a public figure, socialite or celebrity and u can make a local language video to help disseminate safety information pls do.it looks like non English speaking ppl are being misinformed [sic].”
This follows after actress Xandy Kamelysed an Instagram post to address her fans about the deadly virus in her mother tongue, shortly after Edem first made the call.
