SA rise to top of World Test Championship table

The men of South Africa now sit atop the International Cricket Council's World Test Championship standings.

After Australia lost the second Test in Sri Lanka and tied the series, the Proteas jumped ahead of them in the standings.

Based on victory percentage, South Africa is ranked first, having won five of its first seven games.

The top two teams in the table face off in the final for the overall championship during the current World Test Championship, which runs through June 2023.

The defending winner, New Zealand, defeated India in the first final in June of last year.

The first of three games in South Africa's upcoming Test series against England will start at Lord's on August 17.
