Two police recruits have been dropped after it was discovered they were pregnant midway through a 10-month program, news site News24 reports.

According to the story, one of the trainees' condition was revealed when she was transported to the hospital after complaining of excruciating abdominal discomfort and eventually gave birth.

One of them was discovered to be four months along.

At the All Saints Police Academy in the Eastern Cape, an internal investigation has been started to determine why the recruiters failed to ascertain the women's status.
