Rubbish Blocks Toilet Entry At Kakpayili Threatening The Health Of Residents

The health of residents at Kakpayili, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern region is threatening by the heaps of rubbish around the public toilet.

One side of the toilet entry has been blocked as a result of the scattered nature of the rubbish.

Abdul Sammed Gurundari visited the area to see the devastating state of the rubbish and some of the residents living near the toilet expressed harmful experiences of stench, flies and mosquitos from the rubbish and how the polythene bags of the rubbish fly into their compounds.

According to them, the rubbish is posing health danger to them and therefore calling for a permanent solution to this old age rubbish in the area.

In an interview with the Assembly Member for the area, Hon Mohammed Alhassan Dohilee, he said the toilet was not under his care but after the rubbish challenge erupted, the elders of the area handed over the toilet into his care.

Hon Alhassan Dohilee indicated that he has made thriving efforts to get the rubbish cleared.

“I have tried so much to clear the rubbish but because it's rainy season, the excavator cannot move to that place because it is muddy so if the ground is dried up the rubbish would be conveyed,” he said.

According to Hon Alhassan Dohilee, the other toilets under his care are all managed and regulated well.

He said the health of the people living around the toilet is threatening and he is hoping that the soaked ground would be dried up to allow access to the place.

There are many toilet facilities in Tamale where rubbish has engulfed almost their entry with an excuse that the only waste tipper truck of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly is broken down.
