The main road connecting to the Wa East District capital town Funsi has been washed away by rainwater from last night to the early hours of Friday, September 3, 2021, after a heavy downpour.

The district capital has been cut off completely making vehicles from Wahaabu stranded from accessing Funsi. This has happened bringing such cases to two (2) in the Upper West Region in the space of one month.

A minibus has been sited stagnant in the floodwaters suspected that the driver unknowingly jumped into the situation but abandoned the bus in water. The torrential rain that started last night caused havoc on the feeder road.

The National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO visited the area to ascertain the level of the havoc caused by the water.

The District Director of NADMO, Mr Yussif Zakaria has cautioned all travellers who intend to use the road to Funsi and other communities beyond the district capital to use the alternative Walimbelee – Nabolo road.

People travelling through that stretch walk through the water to the other side to board another vehicle to further their journey.
