Retired Teacher Allegedly Shot Himself To Death Over Cost Of In - Law Funeral

A 70-year-old retired teacher at Ekumfi Ebraim in the Ekumfi District of Central Region, Emmanuel Abrokwa popularly called Teacher Mensah has shot himself to death this morning around 7:00.
He shot himself in the chest. 

According to sources, he shot himself in the Absence of his family.

According to an eyewitness, he saw the deceased returning from the farm, and later heard gunshots from the room of the deceased. Upon rushing to the room, they saw him lying in a pool of blood with the gun he usually takes to the farm, also lying beside him.

Central Regional Soireenews correspondent also spoke to the Assemblyman of the area, Hon. Amos Sackey said, "Mr. Mensah's eldest daughter has lost her husband and the family has decided to take the funeral to Kwahu which has made the skyrocketed the funeral cost. He, therefore, suspects that the cause of his death is due to the huge cost of his son-in-law's funeral. He said the pressure which is coming from the side of his in-law family is very huge for him to bear so that might have caused him to shoot kill himself." 

"He is a highly educated man who has taught in Ekumfi for so many years where he became the headmaster and eventually retired. He has put up three buildings and he has a car. I just heard there was a misunderstanding between Mr. Mensah and his wife but that has not been confirmed" One of the witnesses narrated.

Speaking to some residents, they mentioned that, they had a mutual relationship with the deceased and nothing seemed to have bothered him neither did he complain about anything to them so we are unable to tell what caused his action that led to his death

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Saltpond Mortuary while the Police are investigating the matter.
