The retained District Chief Executive (DCE) for Central Tongu Assembly', Mr Thomas Moore Zonyrah, has assured the constituents of more social and infrastructure development projects and programmes under the Akuffo Addo government and his supervision.

Mr Zonyrah gave this assurance when he was delivering his acceptance speech as the DCE for the Central Tongu District Assembly by the Assembly members.

He polled 39 votes, representing 97.5 per cent, and a no vote.

Mr Zonyrah expressed gratitude to the President and the Assembly members for the confidence reposed in him to serve the area.

He attributed that his hard work and commitment was the reason for his endorsement by the Assembly members as he promised to continue the good works.

The DCE made known that there were plans to get investors to support rice and chilli pepper production in mass quantities in the district, adding that “improving health facilities, academic performance and creating job avenues will be his prerogative.”

He further expressed that his doors were opened to the citizens in the district for suggestions and correction.

Mr Zonyra noted that women are very important in society hence the need to be empowered in all aspects of lives especially finance.

He further updated that women groups have been engaged in business adversary centre with some women into rearing for food and jobs, gari processing and many other activities that can help them to be financially independent. 

“Our business adversary centre is charged and some groups of women are already benefiting from our programmes with training and many economic activities in the district,” Mr Zonyra said 

He said the Assembly has also set up some small companies and enterprises for the women groups with assistance from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, averring that the assembly has done a lot on infrastructure with some more projects still ongoing and new ones starting soon.

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa commended the assembly members for a good work done and urged the Assembly to help the retained DCE achieve the aims for which he was re-nominated and confirmed.

In attendance were the Volta Regional Minister, the Central Tongu Member of Parliament and Chiefs from the various traditional councils in the district.
