Retain  Current NDC Executives —Ade Coker Urges Delegates
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Kobina Ade Coker
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, who is seeking for reelection, has called on the delegates to vote massively to retain the current crop of national, regional and constituency executives of the NDC in the party's upcoming executives’ election.
Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com in his office in Accra yesterday, Mr. Coker stressed it was obvious the current executives of the party worked had for the party in the 2020 general election and that "any mistake by the delegates and members of the party to vote them out current executives of the party would spell doom for the NDC in the 2024 poll.
"This is not a matter of throwing the baby just out of the water or changing your best striker, or best goalkeeper!”
"So we are saying that the teams that helped former President Dramani Mahama to win the 2020 general election before it was stolen by the NPP are alive and kicking so why do you want to change them?. Our delegates should better retain them. So l am calling on the delegates who would be voting in the NDC executives’ election this year to ensure they vote and retain the 2020 general election winning teams of the NDC," Mr. Coker stressed.
According to him, it was crucial for the delegates, members and supporters of the NDC to look at former President Dramani Mahama as what he termed as the "bigger picture," within the NDC in order to vote him back to lead the party to win political power in the 2024 general election.”
He called on the rank-and-file of the NDC to rally behind former President Dramani Mahama to win back the presidential seat in 2024 general election to enable him finish his unfinished projects and programmes.
"If you look at the country now every aspect of Ghanaian’s life has been destroyed by the New Patriotic Party government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo because of his mismanagement of the economy,” he stated.
The NDC guru cited the soaring prices of water, electrify, transportations, foodstuff, school fees, accommodation, high level of youth unemployment, saying that “we have realised that this country was sinking and going down very fast under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo."
"This country definitely needs someone to salvage us, we someone who has a good economic management record," he said.
He mentioned that there were clear evidences that Ghanaians needed someone like former President Dramani Mahama to win back the presidential seat in the 2024 general election and take Ghanaians from the bad economic management of the Akufo-Addo administration.
He noted that former President Dramani Mahama’s social and infrastructural programmes were visible for Ghanaians to see for themselves.
He mentioned that Mr. Dramani Mahama built the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (formerly known as the Ridge Hospital), University of Ghana, Legon Hospital, Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Pokuase Interchange, Kasoa Interchange, Hospitals in Ga West among others, saying that the social and infrastructure development projects and programmes initiated by Mr. Dramani Mahama were scattered in the two hundred and seventy five administrative districts in the sixteen regions of the country.
He said every aspect of the Ghanaian was improved during the former President Dramani Mahama-led NDC administration, adding that former President Dramani Mahama has done a lot to develop the Ghanaian economy.
He described President Akufo-Addo and his NPP officials as liars, stressing that they came to lie and deceive Ghanaians by painting former President Dramani Mahama as non-performing and bad leader.
Mr Coker who said he was not against competition within the NDC in Accra believes that the current executives of the party have details knowledge of the party in the grassroot levels.
"...and that what they would have to do is to improve on what they had already done earlier to ensure the party win back the political power from the officials of the NPP who had completely failed Ghanaians," he noted.
"There is a little bit of step to the land of Canaan and we are going to change Moses in the steer on the highway...No!. So that is it. I believe that every executive member in all various constituencies where the vote margins of the NDC were appreciated in the 2020 general elections, all these people, we must encouraged them to stay and lead us to victory in the 2024 showdown. We have only two years to go for the national election and these people referring to the NPP officials were repeating their promises by saying that they want to break the eight years jinx.
"The people of the NPP know what they want to do. Because there was saying that if the blind man told you that he would pet stone at you and it means that he has laid his hands or leg on the stone. So you have to ran. And that as the NPP keeps on reiterating that they are going to break the eight years jinx, then we have to realize that  they know what they are standing on. So it is time for us to be vigilant of the actions and inactions of the NPP," he stressed.
"So we are also saying that we are not going to allow the NPP to break the eight years jinx. And that are we going to change the captain of the ship who is controlling the airlines.
"Is it that does it means that we are going to change our captains or generals in the various aspects in the fight to go and face the NPP in the 2024 polls, then you lost the course," he rethorically asked.
He noted that the current leadership of the party had done a good jobs, stating that in the Greater Accra Region, the executives have worked to increase the vote margins in the various constituency levels, making the NDC to win more seats in the region than NPP in the 2020 general elections.
In this sense, he stressed the need for the members and supporters of the NDC in constituency, regional and national levels to join hands to work together to ensure that we vote for Mr Dramani Mahama to lead the party to ensure he wins the power.
"What l am saying is that the important things now we should all be looking at is to retain the old executives to help us gain power in the 2024 general elections. This is because these current executives worked hard for the NDC to win last elections before the NPP has stolen the verdict from us.
"And that the little mistakes that they had made, they had realized them. Because they would polish their policies, even would listen to other views and even add more strategies and put them together and propel them.

"But if you bring somebody who are new, and these persons never had the experiences it would be a problem. So the battle that we about to embark on we need tried and tested executives to lead the NDC. In otherwise if you change these people we are in trouble," Mr Coker hinted.
He stressed that these basic principles which  have informed their decision to decide that former President  Dramani Mahama to be voted to lead the NDC again in the 2024 elections.
