Residents of Droboso fix poor Wenchi - internationally highway

The Assembly Member of Droboso electoral area in the Wenchi municipality of the Bono Region, Victor Owusu Ansah on Friday September 23,2022 mobilized youth within the area to embarked on a communal labour to fix portion of the Wenchi - Wa International highway.

They distilled chocked gutters, weed bushes on the shoulders of the road and fix some potholes with cement.

It recalled that Radio West Africa Nana Anfreh Damanata reported that two persons were killed while one injured in a motor crush on Wenchi - Techiman highway on Monday evening.

Police investigations also revealed that stretch of road killed ten persons within the period of two years from 2020 to,2022 the report indicated.

Gone are the days where we use shovel and pick axe to construct roads but what we are seeing today indicates that Wenchiman is thirsty for better roads the Twafohene of Wenchi Traditional area, Nana Adutwum, Kyeremeh Siasaa Kuffour IV reiterated.

He further explained that the Wenchi traditional council through the Wenchi municipal Assembly works Engineer have petitioned the necessary offices on how the poor road network in the area.

In addition he said the traditional authorities are now discouraged for not receiving any positive results from the authorities to their petitions.

He therefore appealed to government to fix the Wenchi - Wa International highway to save lives and properties.

The road which linking to the neighboring countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger need to be redesign to expand it and also reconstruct the drainages and make it bigger.

The volume of water that passes through the drainages overflow anytime there is raining and causes mayhem or damage the road. 

The Assembly Member of Droboso electoral area, Victor Owusu Ansah explained that the rationale behind the communal labour is to fix some potholes with the hope doing this will help protect motorist applies the road will have a sigh of relief to do their businesses.

Presiding  Member of the Wenchi Municipal Assembly, Hon James Kwasi Odro Asare commended the residents for coming out in their numbers for a successful works done.

He also appealed to government to fix the road to avoid unnecessary road accidents to save lives and properties.

He added that together with him and the Municipal Chief Executive for Wenchi will do follow up to the offices where the Wenchi traditional council sent their petitions concerning the roads, to make sure government heed to their plea.

After this if government put dead ear to our petitions concerning our roads  there is nothing we can do than to stage on a demonstration because demonstration is the only language any politician listening to Mr James Kwasi Odro Asare stated.
