Replace Broken Pontoon Engine Now- Maame Krobo Queen Mother
Ekyem Amanfrom and Adawso ferryboat

The Queen Mother of Maame Krobo, a fishing/ farming community in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region of Ghana, Nana Yaa Serwaa has called on the government and the Volta River Authority (VRA) to replace the two broken engines of the nonfunctional Pontoon of Afram Plains in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Nana Yaa explained to this reporter on the phone that it is not the first time witnessing the inability of the ferry to transport passengers and cargoes on the Afram river due to the overreliance of the Ekyem Amanfrom and Adawso ferryboat.

She emphasized that the current condition has reoccurred severally within the last two years since the reliance on the single-engine of the Ferryboat.

The Maame Krobo Queen Mother added that the over-dependence of the pontoon’s engine may cause a fatal accident one day.

She has therefore called on the VRA to replace the entire Ferryboat engine and even make provisions for a spare one for the people of Afram Plains.

Nana Yaa Serwaa added that government should make provision for two or more of the pontoon in order to be able to convey passengers to their destinations without frustrations.
