The Technical Manager for MTN Ghana in the Western and Central Region, Mr. Teddy Hayford Acquah, has divulged a record of 125 fiber cut incidences within the last eight months, with 50% of them occurring as a result of road construction activities, illegal small scale mining, and private property development.
This, the company lamented, hinders the quality of service delivery to its clients.
According to him, a total of about 5 million cedis is spent annually to fix the service when the problem occurs which is having a toll on its operational expenses.
He made the statement when MTN Ghana held the 2022 Editors and Stakeholders Forum in Cape Coast to improve quality service delivery.
Speaking in an interview with journalists, Mr Acquah hinted that they have put in place measures to mitigate the challenge.
According to him, the measures include engagement with communities and road construction agencies.
He called on the media to help create awareness and sensitize the public about the consequence of fiber optic cable cuts.
