Paris St. Germain has joined Real Madrid in pursuit of former RB Salzburg attacker, Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian has been on the radar of Los Blancos since his €22.5m transfer to Germany in January. He took his goal-scoring tally for the season to 41, which includes his time at Salzburg after opening the scores against Schalke 04 when the Bundesliga returned into action following two months of coronavirus break.

PSG wants a player who can come in and become a reference point for their attack and with it being assumed that the World Cup winner Mbappe will move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu eventually, they are turning their attention to the Borussia Dortmund revelation.

They are not alone though, as Haaland is one of the most sought after players in Europe. His work rate means Haaland transfer cost will have a drastic increase should he decide to leave Dortmund and ply his trade elsewhere.

Madrid, who has advanced talks with Dortmund would withdraw interest should Mbappe be offered by PSG, and Haaland opted to move the other way.

Haaland scored twice against Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League when the sides met in the first leg in Germany three weeks ago.

Neymar after finding the target in the return fixture decided to poke fun at the rival leading the line for Dortmund by putting his fingers together in meditation pose, with that celebration having become the calling card of the prolific Norwegian frontman Haaland.

The mockery revealed the 'Haaland effect' and how his mark was left indelibly on the entire PSG squad although Dortmund was shown the exit at the Parc De Princess in the Champions League.

The question as to why he will join remains a decision to be made by the 19-year old.
