Protect the trees we’ve planted – Ahafo Regional Minister to Residents

The Ahafo Regional Minister Honourable George Boakye has made a  call to residents and Assemblies to protect their trees planted to mark Green Ghana Day last Friday.

He urged residents to do the needful and protect trees planted in the region from stray animals.

Rendering from a copy of the statement signed by Frimpong Andrews, the Special Aide to Mr George Boakye the Ahafo Regional Minister, and copied to Soireenews, the Minister expressed gratitude to the Minister for Lands and Natural resources, the Forestry Commission and its workers, Nananom for making the day successful.

Honourable George Boakye recounted the numerous challenges the country is facing as a result of climate change.

He opined that the depletion of the forest cover is seriously affecting rainfall patterns which is the anchor of the Country's major Agricultural sector. 

He, therefore, appealled to the general public to keenly protect the trees that were planted. 

Honourable George Boakye warned owners who rear animals to ensure that they don't leave them as stray for them to destroy the trees, thereby charging the environmental and sanitation officers to rise up to the challenge. 

"All of us as citizens must jealously protect our forests with every opportunity we have since it is our strongest access today and that of the future," he said.

He concluded that the Region will ensure the trees planted will be nurtured to grow.
