The Bretuo Abusua Panin of Kwahuman Traditional Council, Nana Kwaku Boateng, who doubles as the Bretuo Abusua Panin of Kwahu Abetifi Kubease, has urged the Forestry Commission of Ghana to consider arresting and prosecution of people who intentionally destroy trees in the environment without replacement.

Nana Boateng, opine, that whoever cut a tree must ensure it is replaced. He cautioned hunters who intentionally burn trees to be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.

He cited the activities of sand winners, Fulani herdsmen, Farmers, and Chain saw operators and illegal miners as an emerging threat to the survival of trees in the country.

According to him, allowing the culprits to go scot-free after destroying trees, embolden impunity which is risky to a sustainable environment.

The Chief said this in an interview with Soiree News Correspondent William Ofori Akwaboa over the weekend, when Kwahu Traditional Council, observed the Green Ghana Project, at Kwahu Abene.

The Abusua Panin emphasized, that the Green Ghana initiative is laudable to replenish the destroyed vegetation and forests.

The clan head, however, appealed to all Kwahuman citizens, to take advantage of this noble idea very serious, in order to restore all degraded forests in the area, for a better future.

The Green Ghana project targeted over five million trees to be planted nationwide during the exercise.
