According to the conservation organization Helping Rhinos, Mr Mzimba received death threats before being shot and killed outside of his home on Tuesday night.

It was said that Mr Mzimba's murder, who served as the Timbavati Game Reserve's chief ranger, shows the constant threat that rangers face.

The Duke of Cambridge expressed his "great sadness" over the loss of the "committed and brave" wildlife ranger.

"Anton and other rangers play a crucial role in maintaining Africa's amazing biodiversity. Justice must be served soon against those accountable "Tweeted he.
