Prime suspect in Legon lecturer’s murder case dead

James Nana Wamba, the lead suspect in the murder of University of Ghana (Legon) lecturer, Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh has reportedly died at the police Hospital.

He passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020, after he was admitted in the hospital for treatment, the police have disclosed.

Per a report by citinewsroom, the suspect was said to being first rushed to the Police hospital for treatment after the court hearing on October 14, 2020, where he was treated and discharged.

He, however, died on his second admission. The cause of death is not yet known.

James Wamba who was a cleaner at the late professor’s home, was standing trial for Prof Benneh’s murder.

According to the Police, the 29-year-old cleaner, in his confession statement admitted to killing the professor when he, together with another person, tried to rob him.

James Womba was on Wednesday, September 30, charged with conspiracy to commit crime and murder by the Kaneshie District Court.
