President Mahama Announces Second Batch Of MMDCEs
The President’s nominees are to fill vacant positions as Chief Executives of various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDCEs) in parts of the country, as the validity of their nominations is subject to approval by the respective Assemblies.

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated another new set of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMCEs) per Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, on Friday, April 4, 2025.
The President’s nominees are to fill vacant positions as Chief Executives of various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDCEs) in parts of the country, as the validity of their nominations is subject to approval by the respective Assemblies.
Out of the 16 regions, eight have already received their share of the first phase of nominations.
These include the Volta, Oti, Ahafo, Bono, Bono East, Savannah, North East, and Western North regions.
