Pregnant Women Are Dying, Fix Our Roads- Afram Plains North Okada Riders Cry Out.

Okada riders in the Communities along the Donkorkrom of the Afram Plains North Constituency of the Eastern Region have called on the District Assembly to fix their roads to save the lives of pregnant women in the area.

The roads that link to the Dorkorkrom communities, according to the Okada riders and drivers had been in a deplorable state for decades now, and all efforts to bring it back to shape have proved futile.

The residents made the complaint during my visit to the Constituency to observe the situation the pregnant women are going through in the area.

The residents and drivers said that, the roads in the Afram Plains North Constituency are terrible and pregnant women either gave birth on their way or died before getting to the health centres.

The okada riders and drivers in the Communities in Donkorkrom explained that they have been calling on the assembly and even the government for decades now but keep promising them that they will fix the roads and since then nothing has happened.

The angry Okada riders and drivers said that, if nothing is done about their roads before the 2024 general elections they'll advise themselves and it will be no roads-no vote.

The Chairman of the Okada Riders Association, Mr Agyekum Daniel also said due to the deplorable nature of their roads in the Donkorkrom communities, they find it difficult to ply the road before they can get to their destination.

He added that, if nothing is done about their roads, no politicians would be allowed to come and campaign for the 2024 general elections and they will ensure no political platform is mounted in their area if the roads are not fixed before the campaign season for the 2024 elections.
