The head of Public Relations of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, says the biggest issue plaguing the police service is political interference, 

She disclosed that the police are disrupted by interference from influential people such as media personalities and politicians.

"If they are caught, let the law work. The interferences from all angles, be it political, be it wherever from people in authority...it affects our work so let's be guided," DSP Effia Tenge said on Accra FM.

Her comments comes after Citi FM journalist Caleb Kudah  was arrested on Tuesday, May 11,  and allegedly tortured by some National Security operatives.

Some critics have alleged that the government is sabotaging the media and opposition using security forces.

The National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, has for instance, accused the Akufo-Addo government of oppressing the press and citizens.
