Police officers missing as boat sinks in Lake Victoria

A boat capsized in Kenya's Lake Victoria, taking three persons, including two police officers, hostage.

The two were reportedly working with an officer from the revenue authority as part of an eight-person team of officers performing a joint operation in the lake.

According to authorities, the boat capsized at around midnight, about 200 meters (660 feet) from Mugabo beach in western Kenya.

A search is being conducted for the missing cops while five were saved.

According to police, the three firearms and ammunition the missing officers were in custody of have not yet been found.
