Ghana's active COVID-19 cases have spiked to 3,286 after 679 new cases were recorded by the Ghana Health Service.

Personnel of the Ghana Police Service in the Tolon District of the Northern Region has commenced enforcing the mandatory laws surrounding covid-19 protocol.

The enforcement began today Monday, January 25, 2021, at some vantage points in the District.

At the time of SoireeNews visit, a checkpoint was mounted within the entrance of the district, where about forty (40) commuters and road users were stopped and compelled to get themselves nose mask before proceeding into the township and outside the District.

There was full cooperation between the lawbreakers and the police at the time of the report, hence none of them were dragged to the police station for questioning or punishment.

The Police Personnel, as part of today's operation also used the opportunity to educate the law breaker's in the district the need for each one of them to comply with the covid-19 protocols.

The operation follows President Akufo Addo's directive on mandatory wearing of Nose mask and adherence to the safety protocols.

It is also an activity earmarked by the Public Health Emergency Committee (PHEC) of the District to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
