Police in Nigeria have apprehended a wanted online scammer.

A 37-year-old Nigerian man has been arrested by Nigeria's police cyber-crime unit. He is suspected of being the head of a transnational cyber-crime syndicate.

According to Interpol, the organization used mass phishing operations and business email compromise tactics to target companies and individual victims.

According to the statement, the suspect was apprehended at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos as part of an operation dubbed Delilah that spanned four continents.

"I hope that the results of Operation Delilah serve as a reminder to cyber-criminals around the world that law enforcement will continue to pursue them, and that this arrest brings comfort to victims of the suspect's alleged campaigns," said Nigerian police Assistant Inspector General Garba Baba Umar.
