Tension is mounting at Adawso in Akuapem North Municipality in the Eastern Region as residents accuse police of being involved in alleged multiple sale of lands and some fraudulent activities.

Some victims of these negative acts claim that, police in the area fail to act on reported cases and abuse by land guards, allowing perpetrators field day to operate.

A District Officer of Information Service Department in Eastern region has fallen victim to this modus operandi of these syndicates. The officer purchased a parcel of land at Adawso in recent times, however, noticed at the Lands Commission that the land has been sold and registered already by a different person.

“In the process of registering, I realized that it’s been registered by someone already. I investigated and got the agent who sold the land and admitted on record that he doubled sold it”. He said.

The case was later reported to the police in Koforidua who invited the two buyers to produce their documents for questioning.

“Ironically, one of the buyers said on record to the police that she doesn’t know any landowner but the agents who fronted for her” it added.

The source alleged that one of the agent’s contacts was given to the police investigator to invite him but the investigator refused to take the number.

However, the source indicated that the complainant has expressed readiness to assist in the investigations but was sadly told they act upon directives of their superiors and not complainants.
