Mauricio Pochettino is considered as the right replacement of Zinedine Zidane should the Frenchman part ways with Los Blancos.

Zidane has come under intense pressure following back to back defeats against Alaves and Shakhtar Donetsk in the La Liga and Champions League respectively in the space of four days. Qualification for Real Madrid in the European campaign is very thin as they host a resilient Monchengladbach side at the Alfredo Di Stefano on Wednesday, having garnered seven points in five games, levelled with Shakhtar.

The players' recent lack of momentum in games has been questioned with many attributing it to the manager’s inability to psyche his boys to victory, with the defeat in Kiev the fifth in 16 games.

Sacking him is the last alternative Madrid could consider but if things get to a level where the steering seems of radar, Fiorentino Perez would have no option than to employ a new person. Marca reports that Pochettino and Raul are candidates the club could consider.

The Argentine has not hidden his interest in handling Los Blancos and the conditions of his contract won't be a problem after previous negotiations.

The former Spurs coach was on the verge of joining the LaLiga giants but Daniel Levy refused to sanction his move. His exit from the Premier League last season saw Jose Mourinho replace him and speaking on Sky Sports at the beginning of last month, the manager disclosed he is opened to offers from interested clubs.

“I'm not going to close any door,” he said when asked on when his next job is.

“I learnt when I was really, really young. And I am waiting to feel what is the right project for us, which is the right way to take,” he added.

The 48-year-old has also been linked to Manchester United yet any suitable offer will be comfortable to secure his signature.

Although Raul, the current manager of the Castilla knows the hierarchy of Real Madrid but chances of becoming a manager could be off radar.

Zidane is not ready to resign, making it clear after their 2-0 loss in Ukraine and Real Madrid would be required to make the decision when necessary.

They take on Sevilla on Saturday before welcoming the Germans on December 12. They’ll then be tested by Atletico in the Madrid Derby three days later.
