PO Donkor bags Gospel Song of the Year Award ahead of Ghanaian gospel artiste colleagues

Gospel artiste, PO Kwabenya Donkor, has bagged the award for the Gospel Song of the Year at the just-concluded Western Music Awards (WMA) held in Takoradi.

He scooped up the award with his hit track "Shine On Me" ahead of Vincent Nyarko, Empress Gifty, Ewuraba Esi, Isaac Dentu, Vincent Nyarko and Navah.

The award-winning artist, who also happens to be a military officer immediately took his plaque to his superiors in the military service to show them his off duty achievement. He also dedicated the award to his fans on the spot.

"I dedicate this award to God and everyone who made it possible for me to see this moment. I really appreciate you, thank you very much. Let us do this again next year"

PO Donkor, who has been in the music scene for more than a decade with two albums to his credit and several awards and nominations, has been effortlessly able to combine his demanding job as a military officer with his music.

The product of Tamale Polytechnic was born on June 19, 1979, at Abuakwa in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region of Ghana to Pastor Joseph Mensah Donkor and Mrs Florence Busi Donkor.
