The president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo has said that his government is successful in its first term because the majority of his government appointees hails from Asanteman, and have provided him with resourceful policies to recover Ghana from the ruins, unlike the John Mahama’s administration which deprived the intelligent personalities of the Region during his term.

According to him, he is surrounded by competent people inspired by the rich Asante prudence which makes it look as if the country’s leadership is in the Ashanti Region.

“Nana I am surrounded by grandsons and daughters in my government who have helped me a lot. They make it look like Kumasi is the powerhouse of Ghana’s presidency," he said.

"It starts from my office, where a vibrant and intelligent lady, who is the chief of staff at the office of president, Akosua Frema Osei Opare plays a key role in my government, the deputy chief of staff, Asenso Boakye, who will be contesting for the parliamentary seat at Bantama and key leaders like Albert Ken Dapaah, Alan Kyeremateng, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Hon. Osei Mensah Bonsu, Anthony Akoto Osei, Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, Isaac Asiamah and Osei Mensah. and many others are all on board.

"There are a lot of deputy ministers, chief executives, ambassador, board chairs. They are all your grandsons and have helped to improve my government with resourceful implementations. There are a lot of Asantes in my government unlike the previous where there was one and I am very happy it is so.

He revealed that in November, a sod-cutting ceremony will be held for works to begin at the Boankra Inland port which has been on the drawing table for generations.

“We have undertaken 1,824 projects in the three years of the Akufo Addo’s administration. 774 are complete as 1004 are ongoing. Education is 604, Health - 92, roads- 145, water and sanitation - 606 and many others over all of Ashanti Region. People will attest that I came to uplift Asanteman and not to deceive any.

He demanded the blessing of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to sail through the task ahead on December 7 and called on Asanteman to vote him to power to enable him to continue the good works for Ghana’s progress.

“My tenure is almost up and as you know, I came here for your blessings and approval. Together we asked God to be merciful to me in 2016 and indeed, I won the elections massively. I was an Attorney General and Foreign Minister during president Kufuor’s regime and was looking up to the greater task of being president in Ghana since every task goes with greater responsibility.

“I promised you and Ghanaians that if by God’s Grace I become president, there are a lot of implementations to be made. They heard and voted me to power as a matter of urgency to replace the former president due to his shoddy works, Ghanaians entrusted power in my hands and I have delivered. I just need four more years to continue where I left.”
