Passenger from New York dies in Nairobi-bound flight

After a passenger became ill and later passed away while traveling on board, a Kenya Airways flight from New York to Nairobi had to make a detour to Morocco.

The death, according to the airline, occurred on Monday.

The passenger was discovered "unresponsive and was determined to have passed away" by medical workers at the airport in Casablanca, Morocco, according to a statement from Kenya Airways.

The traveler reportedly had breathing issues, according to Kenyan media.

According to family members, the passenger had a preexisting condition.
