Mesut Ozil’s Fenerbahce deal will soon be made official following the German’s acceptance to join the Turkish club.

Ozil was earlier reported to have agreed to a deal by the European club which brings an end to his seven and a half year deal at Arsenal following the termination of his £350,000 a week contract at the Emirates.

He moved on a free transfer after his name was omitted in Arsenal's Europa and Premier League squads, and has not featured for the Gunners since March of 2021.

The 32-year-old in an interview Turkish TV channel cited on the Daily Mail revealed his joy and assured to help the team.

'I am a Fenerbahce fan. That is why I am very happy to be coming to Turkey with Fenerbahce,' Ozil said.

'I'm very excited. God gave me the chance to wear this jersey as a Fenerbahce fan. God willing, I will carry it with honour and do everything I can for the team,' he added.

'Of course, I'm missing a few matches. I haven't played in a match in a while, but I am physically fit, I have no issues,' he said, adding he had been training with the first team at Arsenal during his time off the pitch.
