One Dead! Angry Youth Submerges Armed Robbers to Severe Brutalities

The angry youth of Asuboi, a community near Suhum in the Eastern Region on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, midmorning, pursued and arrested two suspected armed robbers who attacked and robbed a mobile money merchant at gunpoint in Asuboa, a community between Nsawam and Suhum in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The robbers said to be on a motorbike allegedly robbed the MoMo agent under the guise of making a transaction at her shop and suddenly pulled a gun on the female mobile money merchant, ordered her to hand over a bag containing the money of the shop meant for customers who might come for transactions.

The two robbers after successfully robbing the lady hurriedly pavilion on their motorbike and attempted to make away with the bag and sum of Ghc2000 but were unlucky, as they were pursued by some angry Asuboe youth with motorbikes in the community.

Fortunate and unfortunately for the robbers, they were nabbed in a Rambo style by their pursuance and were submerged into severe beatings.

Additionally, the mob stripped them naked; and beat them to a pulp till both turned unconscious, and one of the robbers was motionless hence feared to be dead according to the youth, adding that Policemen rushed to the scenes and hurriedly sent them to Suhum government hospital for treatment.

The Eastern region has recorded many incidents of Mobile Money robbery since January 1, 2021, and without adequate protection by the police and the citizens, it will reoccur.
