According to authorities, the boat capsized on Saturday while carrying passengers from Dorkorchina to Kpandai in the Bono East area.

According to Kipo Sulemana, the district director for Bole in the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the boat capsized after hitting a riverside tree stump while carrying too many people and goods.

According to Mr. Sulemana, the accident site was inaccessible, which complicated efforts to find survivors. Locals, he claimed, were assisting in the search for the missing.

According to local media, two people swam to safety and none of the other boat passengers were carrying life jackets.
