On a journey to Ghana, Ghanaian physicians save a dying French passenger

After saving a French man who was dying of a heart attack on a Brussels-Accra flight, two Ghanaian medical experts received a standing ovation.

Charles Ababio and Diana Boakye were identified as the doctors.

According to Ike Sherdrack, a passenger on the flight, the man was asleep with his lips half-open and his chin against his chest, and his helpless wife was attending to him.

On his Facebook page, Ike Sherdrack stated that the sick guy's wife was attempting to straighten the unconscious man in his seat.“

The flight attendant rushed to the incident right away.

She rushed back and battled for a few seconds to get a grasp on the microphone before announcing whether or not there was a doctor on board," he said.

"A young lady in the front seat of the unconscious man hurried over to him and began placing her hand over his chest.

A young man went to the scene a few seconds later...it appears like an operating theatre where a doctor is ordering his colleague to execute a specific action," he described.

"After a few minutes, I heard the two physicians simultaneously remark, 'He is breathing now,'" he continued.

'He's fine,' they said, although they advised the flight attendant to lay the passenger flat on his back. The two doctors gently lowered the man into the back seat.

"Oxygen was requested by the doctors. After, a flight attendant went to the man's side. A large red bottle of oxygen was in her hand... After that, the copilot arrived. Ike also wrote, "After a few minutes, the pilot announced that the old man is now okay."

Dr. Charles Ababio is a specialist in emergency medicine at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), while Dr. Diana Boakye works at the H.C.A. in the United Kingdom.
