Old woman and Grandson Knocked to death at Amanfro

The Gomoa East MP, Desmond Degraft Paitoo has called on the government to as a matter of urgency put measures in place to curb the incessant accidents.

A 70-year-old woman; Kumutu Kweima and her 7-year old grandson have died in an accident at Ngleshie Amanfro.

The tragic incident, according to relatives occurred whilst the deceased and grandson were returning home after paying a visit to a relative at Mankesim.

According to Gomoa East MP, De Graft Paitoo, who is an eyewitness, the woman was trying to cross the N1 highway with her grandchild when a sprinter bus with registration number GT 5994-17 heading towards Accra knocked them.

The two according to reports died at the spot.

A rampaging youth from the nearby Muslim community rampaged the vehicle following the accident.

The bodies were seized from the police and only handed over after an engagement with their leadership by the Gomoa East MP.

Meanwhile, the Gomoa East MP, Desmond Degraft Paitoo has called on the government to as a matter of urgency put measures in place to curb the incessant accidents between Kasoa and Ngleshie Amanfrom.

He also bemoaned the darkness on the stretch due to malfunctioning streetlights.

Relatives of the deceased and some residents who spoke to the media have called on the government to construct an overpass to make crossing easier.

They have also called for streetlights on the N1 highway to be restored.

The N1 stretch between Kasoa and Ngleshie Amanfro has become a death spot for many pedestrians.
