The Okyenhene for Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area in the Eastern Region, Okyenhene Amoatia Ofori Panin has urged Ghanaians to change their attitude on Galamsey.

This is as a result of the dangers it poses for mankind; the destruction of water bodies that threatens the lives of both human and animals.

According to him, ruining water bodies in Ghana is uncalled for and as the ruler of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area,  he can never allow people to destroy water bodies due to its great consequences today and the unforeseeable future. He has therefore urged Ghanaians to respect God's nature because it was created for a purpose.

Speaking to Soireenews during a courtesy call made by the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Honourable Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Okyenhene Amoatia Ofori Panin also called on the government to decentralized the Greater Accra Region because some Ministry existence in the capital of Ghana contributes to high waste in the Region.

He further noted that decentralisation will also help to solve the sanitation issues in Ghana.

The call by the Sanitation Minister was purposely for the inspection of the Ghana water company treatment plant at "Kyebi " in the Eastern Region.

Accompanying her as part of the visit was the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame  Acheampong, the Ghana Water Company Managing Director, MCE for Abuakwa South, Hon. Kojo Ofori Safo and other Honourable Members in the Eastern Region.

Honourable Cecelia Dapaa urged Ghanaians especially the media to strengthen the fight against 'Galamsey.'
