The Traditional leaders and the residents of Okrakwadwo electoral area in the Okere District of the Eastern Region of Ghana have submitted a petition to the Okere District Assembly about their deplorable state of roads that links Okrakwajo township through Okrakwadwo, Kotokoli, Akaten.

The petition was necessitated as a result of authorities turning a death ear to their un-motorable road that has turned to be motorcycle lane.

According to the Assemblyman of the area, Michael Dzagadu,  tricycles even find it difficult to ply through the road, adding that it has become a death trap for vehicles that make attempts to help farmers convey their farm produce to the nearby Districts.

Farm produce continues to be rotten in farms as traders also cannot come for food staff to be transported to  Adukurom, Somanya and other Districts, due to the deplorable state of the road.

He emphasized that the above farming communities were the main source of livelihood to Somanya, the Municipal capital of Upper Manya Krobo, however, Okrakwajo road is totally cut off, making life unbearable for both traders, consumers and the farming communities around.

Finally, he called on the authorities to expand access to electricity in these communities to enable easy and convenient access as most school-going children rely on torchlight for night studies which he believed is unhealthy.
