Reports reveal that over 30 persons have died in the first quarter of 2021 through motorbike and tricycle accidents in the Eastern Region of Ghana

An Okada rider has crashed with a taxi cab at Akyem Swedru in the Birim South District of the Eastern region, Ghana.

The speeding motorbike rider, crashed the side of a moving taxi cab with registration number GT 5332-12 on Monday, June 7, 2021, around 5:30 pm.

The rider sustained life-threatening injuries and was immediately rushed to the Akyem Oda government hospital in the Birim Central Municipality.

The cause of the accident is a suspected overtaking by the motorbike rider on the Akyem Oda- Swedru road.

According to a source close to Soiree News, the motorbike was damaged beyond repairs, while the taxi suffered repairable damages at the side where the okada crashed.

It is estimated, that over 30 persons have died in the first quarter of 2021 through motorbike and tricycle accidents in the Eastern Region of Ghana and the alarming rate have really awakened the police to clamp down on unregistered motorbikes in the region, according to the Eastern regional Police command.
