Martin Odegaard has sustained an injury against Gibraltar in the World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday night at the Victoria Stadium.

The Real Madrid loanee who joined Arsenal in January could not finish the first 45 minutes after an ankle problem before being subbed during half time.

Despite his injury, his side won by 3-0 away without a goal from Europe’s prolific wonder kid, Erling Haaland.

Alexandar Sorloth and Kristian Thorsvedt scored two in two minutes before the first half. Jonas Svensson added a third 12 minutes into the second half to take them top of Group G.

The player went over on his ankle which caused him severe discomfort as he marked his first game for country as the captain of the side.

Although no information of his injury has been given yet it is likely he could miss a few games following his remarkable performance in an Arsenal shirt on the weekend as he ran the show against West Ham and Gunners fans are desperate for him to make a permanent move to the Emirates.

Odegaard has scored a goal in eight appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners.

Arsenal will host Liverpool at Emirates Stadium after the international break on April 3 before meeting Slavia Prague in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.
