The Kindergarten environment has been turned to a refuse dump by inhabitants as the place has been covered with weeds since the closure of school during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Obuasi Salvation Army kindergarten one classroom has gone 10 months without roofing.

On March 31 last year, the classroom had its roofs ripped off after a heavy outpour in the midst of the covid-19 break where schools had shut down as part of measures to curb the spread of the virus.

The classroom harboured 25 pupils and as a result of the incident, the KG one pupils have been merged with the KG 2 although authorities are worried the congestion nature of the learners could threaten lives should any of the children be infected with the coronavirus.

The Headmistress of the school, who failed to disclose her identity for some reason explained that the Obuasi Municipal Education Directorate have been officially informed who in turn have conveyed a message to the Assembly yet the situation have not been attended to.

The Public Relations Officer for the Education Directorate, Prince Opoku Mensah in an interview with Soireenews and Shaft FM's Kofi Wusu Brempong advised the school authorities to formally write to the Directorate to be forwarded to the Assembly for proper actions to be taken.

In more disturbing news, neighbouring residents of the school have turned the premises into dumping grounds due to the bushy nature of the environment following the closure of schools by the president early last year.
