Obuasi East to render psychological support to persons affected with coronavirus

The District Health Executive Platform (DHEP) of the Obuasi East District formed to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus disease within the district has held its January monthly meeting to discuss new approaches to deal with the disease.

In the presence of the District Health Director, Representative of the District Chief Executive, Health Personnel from the SDA Hospital, AGA Health Foundation, Bryant Mission and Todah Hospital, the Committee resolved to intensify the media campaign and raise awareness about the surge in cases of COVID-19 and its potential negative impact on the health system.

 The committee also agreed to strengthen screening and triaging in the various facilities to match the surge in cases.

A team has also been put in place to offer psychological support to persons who have been affected by the Coronavirus disease to enable them cope with the immense stress that accompanies the disease.

The District Director of Health Madam Delphine Gborgblovor cautioned the public to stick to the safety protocols, that is wearing an approved face mask that covers the nose and mouth in public spaces, maintaining a social distance of at least two meters when possible, washing of hands frequently with soap under running water, avoiding public gatherings unless absolutely necessary.

The Obuasi East DHEP was inaugurated on 18th November, 2020.

For the next 2 years, it is expected to have monthly meetings, training programs, contact tracing, case management and educational programs on the Coronavirus disease in the various communities.

The CHAG COVID-19 Project known as COVID-19 Response and Institutional Capacity Building (CRIB) Project is sponsored by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The program seeks to build capacity of CHAG to complement government’s effort to maintain the delivery of essential healthcare services across the continuum of care. CHAG will work with its facilities (especially 40 facilities across Ghana that are designated as district hospitals), GHS and Private Facilites in 40 selected districts to bring the project to the people of Ghana over a 2-year period.
