The Obuasi East Health Directorate has observed its Annual Performance Assessment 2020.

The event came off yesterday Wednesday, February 24 at the Directorate's premises program is an annual event undertaken by the various health directorates in the districts of Ghana.

Speaking to Journalists at the event, Madam Delphine Gboglovor who's the District Health director said, her outfit has made massive strides in the year under review and deserves commendation.

"The Obuasi East Health Directorate was derived from Obuasi Municipal in 2017, so there are not too much to talk about, however, our performance indicates that we made massive strides so we deserve commendations, “She said.

In the wake of covid-19 last year, the Obuasi East District recorded a whopping 462 cases with 11 of them succumbing to the deadly virus.

Delphine Gboglovor reacting to the management of Covid-19 said, "we did a lot of education about the virus with the help of the Member of Parliament Dr. Patrick Boakye and District Chief Executive Executive, Faustina Amissah we shared protective equipment to market women and the vulnerable. We also collaborated with AngloGold Ashanti to sensitize the people about the need to keep safe from the virus".

"Cases of Covid-19 in Obuasi escalated mainly due to the routine surveillance, and that helped us manage the virus very well that, the cases in Obuasi went down to its lowest point in the dying days of 2020," she said.

She however called on the health workers in the district to improve on their services as there is more room for improvement even though patients are hugely satisfied with their work. 

 According to accounts from the health directorate,85 persons have contracted the deadly coronavirus with 1 person has died from the virus in the first two months of 2021.

 Authorities have said they will soon commence education and sensitization on the need to adhere to the preventive protocols in order to keep residents of the district safe from the virus.
